wags, Inc. (“Wags,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website at wags.com and use our services (collectively, the “Service”). Please read this policy carefully. By using the Service, you consent to the practices described herein.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide. When you create an account, subscribe to our newsletter, take a matching quiz, or contact us, we may collect your name, email address, and any preferences or responses you submit (such as lifestyle, living situation, pet preferences, and quiz answers).

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 5) to collect this information.
Information from third parties. We may receive information from authentication providers (such as Clerk) when you sign in, and from pet listing sources (shelters, rescues, breeders) that supply data displayed on the Service.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:

- Send you newsletters, updates, and marketing communications (with your consent)
- Improve the Service through analytics and usage patterns
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or technical issues
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms
3. Use of AI Technologies
Wags uses artificial intelligence, including large language models, to power our pet matching recommendations and our AI assistant, Kits. When you interact with Kits or take our matching quiz, your inputs and responses may be processed by third-party AI providers (such as Anthropic) to generate personalized recommendations. We do not use your personal data to train AI models. AI outputs are informational and should not be considered professional veterinary, medical, or legal advice.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following circumstances:
- Pet providers. When you choose to contact a breeder, shelter, or rescue through the Service, we share the information necessary to facilitate that connection.
- Service providers. We share information with third-party vendors who assist us in operating the Service, including hosting (Vercel), authentication (Clerk), analytics, and email services. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Wags, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to maintain your session, remember your preferences, and understand how you use the Service. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of the Service.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service. We may also retain information as necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, unless retention is required by law.
7. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, to protect your personal information. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
