Lázaro is a charming 6–7-year-old, approximately 19 lb male Schnauzer mix with a gentle soul and a quiet presence. He's a social butterfly who gets along wonderfully with other dogs, children, men, and women. Even chickens and roosters are part of his happy family! Lázaro enjoys affection but is more of an independent, low-key companion who appreciates calm love. He's generally tranquil and easygoing, making him a great match for a relaxed household. Lázaro was abandoned for being considered "old" and "different," but he's living proof that true beauty comes from the heart. He's ready for a family who will appreciate his calm nature, resilience, and quiet loyalty.
Ideal Home
Lázaro would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. He needs a family with a real intention to rescue a dog, open-minded about the needs of street animals, and willing to provide protection and education. Experience in dog behavior and training is preferred, or a willingness to hire a trainer. High tolerance and patience for rescued animals are essential.
Ongoing Health
Lázaro is healthy and pain-free despite having a small, non-visionary eye and missing a few teeth due to congenital reasons. His differences do not limit him in any way. He has undergone spay/neuter, received DHPPI and Rabies vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, deworming, and is microchipped. He tested negative for 4DX and heartworm and is on monthly Nexgard Spectra preventive.
Training & Support
Lázaro can be a bit protective of his food, so basic boundaries during feeding time are recommended. It's important to note that rescued dogs may need an adjustment period and may not be house-trained. Patience, understanding, and establishing a routine are crucial for helping him adapt and build trust.

Transporation
Lázaro is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico and is ready to travel to the East Coast on our cross-country trip. Transportation is available door-to-door with scheduled trips 3-4 times per year. A partner transport company based in Montana collects adopted pets and brings them across the border to Texas for US adoptions. Canadian adoptions will be delivered to the US-Canada border. Real-time updates will be provided in a private Facebook Messenger group, and a final home review will be conducted upon delivery. The transport fee is $400 USD.
