Meet Ernest!

Ernest is a gentle, five-and-a-half-year-old Shepherd/Husky mix with a soft cream coat and soulful eyes. Weighing around 75 pounds, he's a devoted companion who loves to stay close, offer sweet kisses, and quietly follow his favorite humans. He has a thoughtful and sensitive nature, thriving on connection and reassurance. Ernest has lived happily with children, a cat, and even chickens, displaying a calm and friendly demeanor. While social with people and often welcoming to strangers, he also has a sensitive side that requires understanding and patience.

Ideal Home

Ernest needs a calm environment where he can feel secure, as he can become overstimulated and vocalize when there's a lot of movement or change. He would do best in a home where his caregiver is present most of the time, as he truly needs a gentle, consistent presence throughout the day and does not do well with crates, kennels, or gates due to barrier frustration.

Ongoing Health

Ernest requires daily medication, including Keppra and Prozac, to manage epilepsy and support his anxiety. His seizures are generally well managed with this consistent routine.

Training & Support

Ernest benefits from structure, positive reinforcement, and a steady presence. Frequent walks and hikes help him feel balanced and fulfilled. While he is good with other dogs, thoughtful introductions and continued guidance are recommended to keep play balanced and comfortable.
