About King
King is a loving, cuddly 4.5-year-old Poodle mix who weighs 31 pounds and is fully grown. This affectionate, loyal shadow loves staying close to his people, curling up on the couch, and sharing quiet moments and adventures with his family. He is curious, friendly, gentle, playful, and always ready to make new friends.
King is laid-back and lower energy, preferring lounging, cuddles, toys, puzzle games, and leisurely sniff-filled walks. He is a toy enthusiast who enjoys squeaky toys, ropes, chew toys, tug-of-war, and fetch. He is comfortable entertaining himself in his kennel when his foster family is busy, but he thrives on companionship and would prefer a home where people are around more often than not.
Ideal Home
King gets along beautifully with both large and small dogs and would enjoy a friendly, easygoing canine companion, though he can also be happy as the only dog with occasional playdates. He would do best with children ages 5 and older because he may place his front paws on people when asking for affection. He has not been tested with cats.
A securely fenced yard would be wonderful, though King could also live happily in an apartment, condo, or townhouse with regular walks, enrichment, and plenty of time with his family. He would especially enjoy a homebody, remote worker, stay-at-home spouse, or retired adopter. Long workdays alone and busy outings are not his preference.
Ongoing Health
King needs brushing multiple times a week and frequent professional grooming. His adoption fee includes age-appropriate vaccinations, neuter, microchip, flea, tick, and heartworm prevention, a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, and necessary veterinary care while in the rescue’s care.
Training & Support
King is kennel trained, potty trained, and mostly leash trained. He enters his kennel independently, sleeps there peacefully through the night, and enjoys bringing several toys to bed. He alerts his family by sitting at the back door when he needs to go out, though he is still learning to communicate consistently and would benefit from a doggy doorbell. He walks politely on short, leisurely outings and enjoys stopping to sniff.
Application Details
- Adoption fee: $550
- Applications begin by contacting the provider through Wags.
Transportation
King is in foster care in Austin, Texas. Monthly transportation is available, and the adoptive family must meet the transport to pick him up. Dogs are adopted before transport and are not available for a typical meet-and-greet during the trip.
