Pretzel is a big, lovable bully mix with an irresistibly charming brindle coat, a cartoon-worthy head tilt, and wonderfully independent ears. Estimated to be 1–2 years old and weighing about 72 pounds, he is a puppy at heart: affectionate, eager, smart, responsive, and eager to please.

Ideal Home

Pretzel is deeply people-oriented and adoring. He checks in with his handler, leans in for connection, and looks to his person for guidance. He can coexist with other dogs but is still learning boundaries and may be pushy, so he would do best with a medium-energy dog who can tolerate his learning curve and model appropriate play. He has shown promising signs with cats, including calmly disengaging after approaching with curiosity; a cat introduction or sleepover can be arranged for further evaluation.

Ongoing Health

His $900 adoption fee includes veterinary care, DAPP with booster, Bordetella, rabies vaccination, deworming, flea prevention, a 12-month heartworm preventative injection, heartworm testing and treatment if needed, spay/neuter, a microchip with free lifetime registration, and a health certificate for travel. The fee also includes transport costs, though an $87 transportation surcharge applies.

Training & Support

Pretzel already knows how to sit and is highly food motivated, making training fun and effective. He can occasionally jump up and become mouthy when excited, so he will benefit from structure, redirection, consistency, and continued work on manners. He is strong and enthusiastic on leash, especially around new dogs, but responds to guidance and can walk more calmly after correction. Continued leash and social-skills training will help him become an excellent walking companion.

Adopters receive behavioral information from staff trainers, a private online training session, access to local training resources, and additional adopter discounts and support.

Transportation

Nationwide transport is available through a USDA-certified rescue transport system with 24/7 care, real-time journey tracking, photo updates, and drop-off locations in WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, and Canada. Canadian adopters can pick up in Bellingham, WA; Buffalo, NY; or Brattleboro, VT. Transport is included in the adoption fee, with an $87 surcharge due to rising transportation costs.
