Chispa

I'm Chispa -- a 9-year-old Belgian Malinois/Shepherd mix with plenty of spark still left in me! Don't let my age fool you -- I love to stay active and have energy to spare when it's time for a walk, play session, or a good game of fetch. I'm also friendly and affectionate once I get to know you, and I've still got that playful, happy-go-lucky attitude that keeps life interesting.

I came to the shelter after my owner's health declined, and while I've lived peacefully with another dog and a cat before, I haven't loved meeting cats here -- so I might be hit or miss in that department. I'd do best with respectful dog friends and humans who understand my boundaries.

Speaking of which -- I can be a bit protective of my food and toys, so I'd prefer a home with kids 12 and up who understand that I like my space when I'm eating or playing with something special. I'm also not a fan of being restrained (the vet usually needs to give me a little something to help me relax during exams), so gentle handling and patience are key.

The good news? I'm housebroken, loyal, and full of love once you're in my circle. I'm ready to find a home that appreciates my big heart, spunky personality, and the wisdom that comes with a little life experience.

Ideal Home

Chispa would do best in a home with respectful dog friends and humans who understand her boundaries. She needs a home with children 12 and up who understand she needs her space when eating or playing with special toys. She may be a hit or miss with cats.

Ongoing Health

All of our dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, up to date with age appropriate vaccinations, heart worm or feleuk/FIV tested, fecal tested, rabies and tag, and microchipped before being placed in your home.

Training & Support

Chispa can be a bit protective of her food and toys and not a fan of being restrained. Gentle handling and patience are key.
