Dagger is a spirited and affectionate 6.5-month-old Retriever/Pit Bull mix, weighing 40 pounds and expected to be a large dog when fully grown. She was rescued with her littermates and mother from a rural area and has been raised in a loving foster home. Dagger, named for a distinctive white marking on her neck, has traded her shark-like puppy teeth for gentle love nibbles. She's a confident, playful pup with a big heart, balancing her energetic leaps and explorations with a love for cuddling. Dagger is social, curious, and always ready for an adventure, but her favorite place is curled up with her person. She's generally friendly with strangers and enjoys playing with other dogs, and has done well with children.
Ideal Home
Dagger is an energetic and curious young dog. She's a talented escape artist, so a secure enclosure will be important. We prefer a home with another friendly, well-mannered dog to help Dagger learn appropriate social skills, though we will consider homes without another dog if a strong plan for continued socialization is provided. Because she is still young, we also prefer a home where she won't be left alone for more than four to six hours at a time.
Ongoing Health
Dagger is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. Her mother, Wanda, is also pictured in her profile.
Training & Support
Dagger is potty trained and continues to learn. She will benefit from consistent positive reinforcement training, especially for leash manners. Continued socialization with new people, places, sounds, and friendly dogs is crucial for building her lifelong confidence.
