Tipper is a beautiful 6-year-old Mini Australian Shepherd x Border Collie mix weighing about 40lbs. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and ready for a second chance with someone who truly understands the incredible mind and heart of a herding dog. If you know Aussies, Border Collies, or other herding breeds, you will probably recognize Tipper immediately. She is unbelievably smart, eager to learn, and picks up new commands almost instantly. She thrives when she is given structure, consistency, and someone who enjoys working with their dog. At six years old, she still has plenty of enthusiasm and athleticism, and we think she would absolutely shine in activities like rally, scent work, trick training, agility, or other dog sports. However, she does not need to be working every minute. She is equally content relaxing at your feet after a game of fetch or joining you on everyday adventures. Above all else, Tipper is devoted to her people. She is incredibly affectionate and forms deep bonds with those she trusts. Once you are her person, expect a constant shadow—she will happily follow you from room to room, curl up beside you, and remind you every day why herding dogs are famous for their loyalty.
Ideal Home
Tipper has clear boundaries around her personal space, particularly with unfamiliar people or unexpected movements. Like many sensitive herding dogs, she communicates when she's uncomfortable and may react with a quick warning nip if she feels overwhelmed. She is looking for an experienced home that understands how to read her body language, give her space when she asks for it, and continue building her confidence through consistency and trust. She would likely do well in a home with a respectful canine companion, though she is more than perfectly happy soaking up all of her person's attention. A fenced yard where she can sniff, explore, and play is what she wants, but more important than the size of your home is the quality of the relationship you build with her. Tipper is not the right fit for a first-time dog owner or someone looking for an easy companion.
Ongoing Health
Spayed and up to date on vaccinations.
Training & Support
Tipper walks nicely on leash, though she will pull if something exciting catches her attention. She does well with other dogs when introductions are slow and thoughtful, but she is not interested in greeting every dog she passes on walks. She is looking for a confident, experienced handler—someone who understands the unique quirks of Aussies and Border Collies, enjoys training, respects canine communication, and sees her incredible potential. In the right home, we truly believe Tipper will be an exceptional partner.
