Meet Cleo! This beautiful 2-year-old Black Mouth Cur mix has already been through so much. She was abandoned, became a mama, and battled nasty heartworms — and through every single challenge, Cleo has remained an absolute angel. A kind stranger stepped up when Cleo had nowhere else to go and helped her safely bring eight puppies into the world. Those babies have all found wonderful homes, and now it's finally her turn to be the one who gets chosen. Cleo is young, playful, and full of happy energy. She loves meeting new dog friends and has a sweet, joyful personality that makes her a pleasure to be around. She is house-trained, walks nicely on a leash, and is a fabulous companion.
Ideal Home
Cleo would do best in a home with a secure, fenced yard (she's a talented jumper and can clear a 4-foot fence!) and a family ready to give her the love and stability she's been waiting for. She's a girl who truly loves her people, and after everything she's been through, she can be a little unsure when left alone for long periods of time. She would do best with a family who can help her continue building confidence and show her that being apart doesn't mean being abandoned. She hasn't been cat-tested yet and does seem a little too interested in the cats she's seen from afar. Because of her size and playful nature, older kids would likely be the best fit.
Ongoing Health
Cleo has battled and overcome heartworms. All dogs are cleared by a licensed veterinarian and arrive to their adopters spayed/neutered with age-appropriate vaccines completed and are microchipped.
Training & Support
Cleo gets excited by bicycles and motorcycles, so she'll need a confident handler who can safely manage her on walks if she decides she wants to chase the action.
