Jace

Hi there! I'm Jace, a charming 55-pound bulldog mix with a heart full of love to give. My sweet nature shines through as I snuggle up for belly rubs and head scratches. I'm also a smart cookie and have mastered "sit," "down," and "leave it." I'm a motivated learner, and with a treat, I'm sure I could pick up even more commands! My favorite pastimes include playing with my Kong filled with goodies, gnawing on bones, and romping with stuffed animals. I enjoy a game of fetch (though sometimes I'm a bit too fond of the ball to give it back!) and tug-of-war.

Ideal Home

I'm looking for a best friend to follow around the house and chill with. I don't quite realize my size and will try to sit on your lap, so a home that appreciates a lovebug would be purr-fect! I love cats, but please keep them away from my food.

Ongoing Health

Due to past neglect, I have a food guarding tendency that requires careful management. I also have an old facial injury that prevents one side of my face from filling in, but this doesn't affect my cuddly personality one bit! I am neutered, vaccinated, and have successfully completed heartworm treatment.

Training & Support

I'm already potty and crate trained and walk wonderfully on a leash. While I'm not good with dogs, my rescue team believes this stems from fear rather than true aggression, likely due to my past experiences of being chained and starved. This past has also led to my food guarding. With patience and understanding, I'm sure we can work through this together.

Transportation

I'm currently in Hampton, VA, but I can be transported out of state for the right home. Please note, there may be a transport fee if volunteer transport cannot be arranged.
