A little about them
Meet Smokey! This handsome 2-year-old, 56-pound neutered Lab mix is packed with fun. He's fully vaccinated, microchipped, and up to date on all preventatives, ready to join his forever family. Smokey is playful, smart, and wonderfully silly, with a moderate energy level. He enjoys playful romps with other dogs and is adept at sensing when it's time to relax. Smokey is friendly when meeting new dogs and would truly flourish with a confident, playful canine sibling to guide him. He has remained calm around children during their visits while he was crated. Smokey can be okay with cats; he's curious and may occasionally try to initiate a playful chase, but other times he's indifferent. He's a social, happy dog who greets new people warmly, offering a friendly welcome or a gentle bark to announce their arrival.
Ideal Home
Smokey would thrive in a moderately active home with a patient family and a friendly dog companion. He needs a home where he can be crated when left alone (for no longer than 9 hours) as he can be rambunctious and a bit of an escape artist.
Ongoing Health
Smokey is up to date on vaccinations and all preventatives.
Training & Support
Smokey is still learning basic commands. He walks much better on a harness but still needs patient training to improve his leash manners. While he's not a fan of the crate initially, he settles once inside and should be crated when left unsupervised. He's also a bit nervous in the car. Smokey doesn't resource guard and is happy to share, but he does tend to think most things are edible, so keep an eye on that!
