Meet Dusty! This handsome, 5-year-old tan and white Boxer mix is a true gem who has been waiting patiently at the shelter since March 2026. Dusty is a joyful, playful, and incredibly snuggly boy who shines with a special kind of love. While he can be a bit barky when you first approach his kennel, it's completely understandable given his vision impairment. As soon as you start interacting with him, his sweet, derpy personality truly comes through! Dusty is a fighter who loves to explore, sit pretty for treats, and is a fantastic snuggler.
Ideal Home
Dusty needs a dedicated and experienced home that can provide him with patience and understanding. He would thrive as a solo pet, enjoying all the attention, or he could potentially live with another dog after a successful meet-and-greet.
Ongoing Health
Dusty has a vision impairment, believed to be glaucoma, which has worsened during his stay. He is not 100% blind but requires a patient handler to help him navigate his environment.
Training & Support
Dusty can become frustrated when overstimulated, especially with water spray bottles. He needs a family who will use positive reinforcement, high-value treats, and vocal cues for training. It's highly recommended to seek guidance from Gail Smith with TOP Dogs for free training support. Dusty may also need muzzle training for introductions with other dogs. He should not attend dog parks or other uncontrolled environments.
