About Bear

Bear is a 10-month-old, 53-pound Labrador Retriever mix bursting with love, personality, and youthful enthusiasm! This handsome boy is incredibly sweet and friendly, and he gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, and children. Bear has never shown aggression toward people or other animals and truly enjoys being around everyone. He loves making new friends and is happiest when he has company, whether that's his human family or canine companions. As a young Lab mix, Bear has plenty of energy and can be quite rambunctious when he's excited. He loves to run, play, and burn off energy, so his future family should be prepared to provide plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. Bear is house-trained but is not yet crate trained.

Ideal Home

Bear is looking for an active family that understands he's still very much a puppy at heart. A home with another playful dog is highly preferred, or a doggy daycare would be an excellent outlet for him to help keep him happy and engaged. Yards MUST BE adequately and fully fenced. We do not accept electric or underground fences.

Ongoing Health

Bear is fully vetted, neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and kept on heartworm and flea prevention.

Training & Support

Bear does have one challenge that his future family should be aware of: he has food-related resource guarding, due to living on the streets and going to bed hungry every night. While he is comfortable and relaxed with his trusted caregiver, he can become protective of his food around other dogs, therefore he must be fed separately. This behavior is limited to feeding situations, and he is otherwise a loving, social dog with no history of aggression toward people or animals. His adopters should be committed to managing feeding time appropriately and continuing positive reinforcement training to help him build confidence and trust. With proper exercise, structure, and love, he will reward his family with endless affection, loyalty, and entertainment.
