Hey there! Axel here. I was a stray who found my way to the rescue. When I arrived, they guessed I was about 1 to 2 years old, and I've been here for about a year now. I weigh around 75lbs. I was a bit of a goofball puppy, but I've certainly mellowed out!
I used to have some trouble walking on damp, cold days. X-rays showed that my hip was dislocated or broken when I was younger. It's too late to repair it now, but with supplements as I age, I should be comfortable. I might get a bit of arthritis down the line, but it doesn't slow me down much!
I'm walking pretty well on leash now, only pulling a little now and then. I do need to be walked on a chain-style leash, as I tend to think other kinds are tug toys! I'm not reactive to other dogs and think a canine girlfriend might be nice. I only bark when others are barking, and I don't always join in. I'm working on my manners and already know how to sit, which is a great start. I'll even sit and wait for my food! I think I would be just fine with older kids. As for cats, they're not my cup of tea!
I have a very expressive face – I can give you a big smile or a look of profound sadness! Those are my two best expressions. I'm a very special boy looking for a very special person! It would be amazing to have a new forever family. I'd love to be your companion, and we can curl up by the fire, eat popcorn, read a book, listen to nice music, or just do nothing at all. Ideal Home
A home where I can be your loyal companion, perhaps with a canine girlfriend. I'm not a fan of cats. I think I would do well with older children.
Ongoing Health
My hip was injured when I was younger and cannot be repaired. I may develop arthritis as I age and will likely need supplements.
Training & Support
I'm learning to walk nicely on a leash and only pull occasionally. I need a chain-style leash. I know how to sit and wait for my food.
