Sam is an 18-pound bundle of pure joy and energy, ready to bring excitement to an active home! He came to us as a stray, and while he might have a few quirks, he's a very nice boy eager to learn and play. Sam is incredibly smart and would excel at any training activity you can dream up, from obedience and agility to scent work and tricks. He thrives on mental stimulation and can get bored easily, sometimes leading him to find his own entertainment by climbing and chewing. A little bit of vocalization is to be expected – it's just his Shiba nature! He's also quite the athlete, capable of scaling fences up to 5 feet, so he'll need to be supervised when outdoors or kept on a leash. Sam absolutely adores running and playing with other dogs, especially those under 40 pounds who share his love for a good chase. When he's not zooming with his doggy friends, he loves to explore the world with his nose.
Ideal Home
Sam needs an active family who can keep up with his energetic spirit. He requires at least one, preferably two, canine companions under 40 pounds who also enjoy running and playing. Due to his high energy and climbing ability, children 15 and older are preferred.
Ongoing Health
Sam has been neutered, tested negative for heartworm and tick-borne diseases, and is up-to-date on all his vaccinations and preventatives.
Training & Support
Sam is still working on his house training and will need to wear a belly band when unsupervised. He has mastered crate training, which is essential for his safety when he cannot be watched. While he may bark or "scream" for a day or two upon arrival in a new home, he will settle down and be quiet in his crate with consistent reinforcement.
