Meet Ty! This handsome 6-year-old Weimaraner/American Foxhound mix has a zest for life and a heart full of love. Ty is light on his feet, playful with both humans and other dogs, and has a smile that shows up whenever he gets excited, which is quite often! His DNA results show he's 52% Weimaraner with American Foxhound, Siberian Husky, and even a touch of Chow Chow mixed in. Ty has thrived in his foster home and loves to be included in whatever is going on, whether it's a hike, a car ride, or simply spending time with his people. He's an excellent traveler and happy whether riding shotgun or resting in his crate. Ty is looking for a forever family where he can be loved, included, and treasured as the wonderful companion he is. Extra adventures are a bonus! With his playful spirit, loyal heart, and zest for life, Ty is sure to bring endless joy to his new home.
Ideal Home
Ty does best with female pups or male dogs smaller than his 70lb frame. His sweet, buoyant nature makes him a wonderful match for families with active kids, and he'd also be the perfect adventure partner for an active single person or couple. Ty enjoys the outdoors, so a securely fenced backyard is a must. An adopter experienced with large dogs is a plus.
Ongoing Health
All of our dogs are cleared by a licensed veterinarian for transport and arrive to their adopters spayed/neutered with age-appropriate vaccines completed and are microchipped.
Training & Support
Ty is crate-trained, house-trained, and doggie-door savvy. He walks well on a leash but, true to his hound heritage, his nose sometimes takes charge if he catches an interesting scent. Continued leash training will help him stay focused on the walk instead of the critters. He already knows how to sit on command, especially if there's a treat involved, and is eager to keep learning.

Transportation
Ty is currently in South Mississippi. Local and out-of-town adopters are welcome. For out-of-town adopters, we offer virtual meet-and-greets and can arrange transport to many states in the Northeast. The adoption fee includes transport to the city on this listing. Transports run every 2-3 weeks to that location. We cannot adopt to Rhode Island due to import restrictions.
