Raya’s story begins in a way we’ll never forget.

There’s one video we chose not to include — Raya standing guard over her deceased sibling in the median of a busy highway. As cars rushed past, she refused to leave. Loyal. Confused. Heartbroken. Thankfully our volunteer was able to bring her to safety. And that’s when Raya’s second chapter began.

Today, she’s a bright, resilient young pup who’s ready for her forever family. Raya is active, silly, and agile — she lives for adventure and fun. Walks and car rides are her absolute favorites. The second someone heads for the front door, she lights up. In fact, she’d happily keep walking forever rather than turn back toward home.

Because of her enthusiastic energy, she could accidentally topple very small children, so older kids or teens would be best. She’s done well with other dogs so far, but cats are far too interesting for her, so a cat-free home is needed.

Raya spent time decompressing in her foster home and has truly blossomed. She may be slow to warm up in a new place, but once she bonds, she bonds HARD. She loves deeply and wants to be part of her people’s everyday life — adventures, couch time, all of it. She doesn’t love being alone for long stretches. Her foster uses a durable crate to help with some separation anxiety and prevent mischief. If you’re gone 8–10 hours most days, she may not be the right fit.

Once submitted, we will reach out to approved applicants by phone. We may also suggest other amazing dogs in our care who could be a great fit for your home.

LOCATION & TRANSPORT:

This dog is currently in South Mississippi. Local and out-of-town adopters are welcome. For out of town adopters, we offer virtual meet-and-greets and can arrange transport to many states in the Northeast. (The $300 adoption fee includes transport to the city on this listing. Our transports run every 2-3 weeks to that location.) We cannot adopt to Rhode Island due to import restrictions.

VETTING:

All of our dogs are cleared by a licensed veterinarian for transport and arrive to their adopters spayed/neutered with age-appropriate vaccines completed and are microchipped. Note: We cannot guarantee full grown size or breed mix. Both are guesses based on physical characteristics and any known history.
