Hugo in NC

Hugo is a 9-month-old male Dachshund with a smooth, deep red coat, weighing about 15 lbs. He's been through a lot in his young life, having been in three homes already. Hugo is a smart, energetic puppy who is eager to learn and find his forever family. He's currently undergoing obedience training to help him with his manners and socialization. Hugo dreams of a stable home where he can finally get the love and consistency he deserves.

Ideal Home

Hugo would thrive in an active home with someone who works from home or is a stay-at-home individual and enjoys walking or jogging. He absolutely needs a securely fenced yard. Hugo is not suited for apartment living, high-rises, or condos. He would do best in a home with another small, young dog to play with, as he loves to play. Due to his breed's susceptibility to back injuries and potential for not being patient with very young children, homes with children over 12 years old are preferred. He is not recommended for homes with cats.

Ongoing Health

Hugo is up-to-date on all his vaccinations, including DHPP and Rabies. He is neutered and microchipped with 911PetChip (991003911570202). He receives monthly heartworm prevention on the 2nd of each month. He has no special health needs.

Training & Support

Hugo is working on his leash training and crate training. He dislikes crates, possibly due to past experiences, and is still learning to be comfortable with them. He is house-trained but would benefit from a consistent schedule, and he loves using a doggie door. Hugo needs an adopter with patience who is committed to working with him and understanding that he is still a puppy learning the ropes.
