Scarlet Mae is believed to be a Pointer/Lab mix, approximately 4 years old and weighing 48 lbs. As with any rescue, breed and age are a best guess. This loving girl is incredibly people-oriented and attentive, making her one of our favorites. Her greatest desire is to make you happy and bring a smile to your face. She's also great with kids, as proven by her interactions with a 12-year-old at the rescue, where she cozied up for affection without being too demanding. We believe she would make a wonderful family dog. Scarlet also enjoys sitting in laps for big, full-body hugs and will lean in for just a "few more minutes" when the affection stops – it’s incredibly sweet.

Scarlet is dog-friendly and has done well with all the dogs she's met. She enjoys romping and playing chase in the yard with her canine friends. When meeting new dogs, she prefers slower introductions and will offer a gentle correction if she's not in the mood to play or if things get too boisterous, much like a big sister guiding a younger sibling.

In a home, she would do best with a medium-energy male dog who enjoys relaxed moments together, is up for a game of chase now and then, and respects her boundaries when it's time to wind down. If you don't have other dogs, that's perfectly fine too! Scarlet is a confident lovebug who doesn't need another dog to feel secure or meet her energy needs. She'll be just as happy being the center of your attention.

Scarlet also had a positive introduction to our resident cat, Biggie. She was respectful, didn't chase him, and was unfazed by his feline antics. Biggie also seemed comfortable around her. We haven't tested her with cats in a home environment before, but we're happy to arrange a sleepover with a cat upon request to ensure a good fit.

Scarlet is a smart and quick learner. She already knows how to sit, is improving on her leash skills, and is crate and potty trained. Her people-oriented nature and eagerness to please, combined with her love for tasty treats, make her a joy to train. She responded exceptionally well to every command given. Scarlet has a balanced energy level – perfect for snuggling or adventuring. She'd thrive in a home with a backyard for stretching her legs, basking in the sun, and enjoying quiet evenings on the porch with you. We're happy to test Scarlet with any potential companions to ensure a perfect match.
