Hugo

One look into those milk chocolate eyes and you'll fall in love with Hugo! This distinguished pup is a fun-spirited, delightfully energetic, loving 4-year-old Husky mix. Hugo adores being with people to get belly rubs and pets. He likes getting his beautiful fluffy fur brushed while lounging with his crew.

This boy is smart! He knows several commands and is eager to learn. While he doesn't play with any toys, he is food motivated, especially when it comes to chicken, beef, Greek yogurt, and watermelon. He knows how to sit, stay, come, give paw, give high five, and he is just starting to master how to crawl and nod. Hugo would do best with a family who can stimulate his mind. He loves Just Food for Dogs treats, and having them on hand as a little reward or a special treat will go far with him. Chicken and Brisket are his favorites.

He loves lounging with his crew but he also enjoys taking several long walks daily. Even though he's a small dog, he is strong. When he leaves the house, he can pull and run to let that energy out. He then settles into a comfortable fast-paced walk, but if it is hot outside, he can tire more quickly from all that gorgeous fur! For a break, he enjoys sitting on a park bench and getting pets and praise from the neighbors—all well-deserved! When Hugo is back from a walk, he loves getting his face, paws, and body cooled down with some gentle wiping after he has some water. He also enjoys some frozen or cold watermelon to cool him off. While Hugo is fun-loving, he has a strong prey drive and will forcefully try to chase squirrels, chipmunks, and cats. He is also dog selective, but when he does like a dog, he can be somewhat aloof around them.

When Hugo wakes up, he loves to jump and give kisses as he gets ready for his breakfast and morning walk. At night, after his last walk, he enjoys a dessert of frozen plain Greek yogurt mixed with a tiny bit of pure apple juice in his rubber chew toy to cool him down and occupy his mind.

Before going to his bed (which he also knows on command!), he will jump into your bed and flop over to playfully enjoy your company and get you to give him belly rubs. He's just the best dog!

Ideal Home

Hugo would do best with a family who can stimulate his mind. He has a strong prey drive and will forcefully try to chase squirrels, chipmunks, and cats. He is also dog selective.

Training & Support

Hugo knows several commands including sit, stay, come, give paw, give high five, and is learning to crawl and nod. He is food motivated and responds well to treats like Just Food for Dogs Chicken and Brisket, Greek yogurt, and watermelon. He can pull on leash and needs encouragement to settle into a walk.
