Gelato and her siblings were surrendered to PUP when their mother and another female dog in the household had litters around the same time. Luckily, both mothers were happy to share in the care of all the puppies! We don't know who Gelato's father is, but her mother is described as a cream-colored, short-coated dog weighing about 30 pounds. Gelato herself is a charming pup who arrived in good health, and we anticipate she'll be a medium-sized dog when fully grown, though adopters should be prepared for any size! At 7 weeks old and on July 7th, she weighed 5.5 pounds. Her eye color is still developing, so that's a fun surprise to look forward to!
Ideal Home
Gelato's ideal home will be with adopters who are committed to her early socialization. This means providing her with many opportunities to safely meet and greet dogs of all shapes and sizes, and exposing her to a variety of sights and sounds like vacuums, trucks, and people with hats and bikes. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store, and socialization and obedience classes will be very important for her development.
Ongoing Health
Gelato has been vet checked, vaccinated, and de-wormed. She will require two additional puppy vaccinations and a rabies vaccination, all at the adopter's expense. Her spay surgery is covered by the adoption fee if completed by 6 months of age at the PUP clinic. We require that she be spayed by 6 months of age.
Training & Support
Early socialization is key for Gelato's success! A well-socialized puppy is a happy and well-behaved adult dog. Adopters should be prepared to invest time and effort into puppy classes and positive reinforcement training.

- Adopters must be at least 21 years old, and all household members must be on board with adopting a puppy.
- Renters will need to provide proof of permission to have a puppy.
- If you have current pets, be prepared to provide a vet reference upon request.
Transporation
Gelato is currently in the Saint Paul area. We do not ship pets, but we do place them outside the metro area if a firm plan for spay surgery is in place.
