Billie

Billie is a handsome, ~95 pound lovebug who came to us in January weighing a mere 77 pounds and moving like an old man. Shelter staff in California thought he was a senior, but after four months in foster care, we believe he's actually 3-4 years old and has blossomed into a truly wonderful companion! He's smart, playful, protective, and incredibly affectionate, especially with men. Billie is fully housebroken, non-destructive in the home, and has quickly learned basic commands, including walking nicely on a leash most of the time. He even enjoys water and cooperates during bath time. He was recently sweet when meeting a 5-year-old girl, but due to his size, a home with older children (10+) is recommended.

Ideal Home

Billie would thrive in a home where he can be your one and only canine companion. He is protective of his people once bonded and needs a strong handler for walks or a large fenced yard where he can survey his domain. If you're looking for a large, loving dog to keep the critters out of your garden, Billie might be your man!

Billie was neutered and weighed 77 pounds upon arrival. He is now approximately 95 pounds.

Training & Support

Billie is a smart boy who has learned basic commands and walks well on leash about 80% of the time. He is working on leash reactivity and would benefit from continued training and socialization. He's an independent thinker but responds well to treats and knows how to sit. He's the perfect dog for someone who wants a chill, roommate-style companion rather than an overly attached best friend.
