Horacio is a sweet Chihuahua mix, about 2-3 years old and weighing 16 lbs. He had a tough start, found tied up, neglected, and mistreated, but he's now safe, cared for, and discovering what it means to be loved. Horacio is a gentle and affectionate boy who adores car rides, enjoys being around people, and is always ready to give kisses. While he has a playful side, he's generally calm and easygoing, making him a wonderful companion for someone seeking both love and tranquility. He enjoys short bursts of play followed by relaxing with his trusted humans. Despite his past, Horacio's heart is full of love and gratitude, and he's eagerly awaiting a forever home where he'll only know kindness and affection.
Ideal Home
Horacio needs a home with a tall fenced backyard, and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. He thrives with families who are genuinely committed to rescuing a dog and understand the needs of rescued animals. Experience with dog behavior and training is highly valued, or a willingness to hire a professional trainer. High tolerance and patience are essential for this intelligent dog.
Ongoing Health
Horacio has received a spay/neuter certificate, two DHPPI vaccines, a rabies vaccine, a Bordetella vaccine, and has been dewormed. He is microchipped and has a negative 4DX test and heartworm test certificate. He is on monthly preventive protection with Nexgard Spectra for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. He also has a health certificate and vaccine booklet. Please note that rescued dogs may require an adjustment period and may not be house-trained.
Training & Support
Horacio is not house-trained and will require patience and consistency in establishing a routine and clear boundaries. Understanding that rescued dogs may have fears and anxieties due to past experiences is crucial for building trust and a strong bond.
