About Comet

Comet is a 3-year-old, 56-pound, neutered male hound/retriever mix who is looking for his forever family! He's known as Buddy in his foster home and was rescued from the streets to be saved from the county shelter in San Antonio. Comet is a playful and affectionate boy who loves to run zoomies and has a balanced playstyle. He's well-behaved around other dogs and has shown no food or resource aggression. Comet also does well with indoor cats and kids, but due to a mild herding instinct, we recommend a home with children aged 10 and older who can understand and respect animal cues.

Ideal Home

Comet would be happiest in a home where he has a canine sibling to snuggle and play with. He's a bit wary of men but warms up with patience and consistency, as he has bonded with his foster dad.

Ongoing Health

Comet is up-to-date on all vaccinations and has been neutered. No specific health conditions are noted.

Training & Support

Comet is fully house, crate, and leash trained. He sleeps through the night in his kennel without whining and doesn't pull on the leash. He alerts when he needs to go potty and hasn't had any accidents in the house. While he doesn't show signs of separation anxiety, he does like to "taste test" things, so he is crated when unsupervised. Comet is eager to please and easy to train, responding well to positive reinforcement.
