Fauna

Fauna is a silly, funny, and very playful pup who is expected to be on the smaller side of medium-sized, weighing in at 22 lbs. She has some inner ear issues that are still being diagnosed, which affect her balance and sometimes cause her to tilt her head in a funny way. These side effects actually make Fauna even more endearing with her goofy ways! She may even get along with your calm cat with proper introductions, and she has passed our basic cat testing.

Ideal Home

Fauna would do best in a home with another dog, as having a buddy to play with seems to help distract her from her balance issues.

Ongoing Health

Fauna has been diagnosed with idiopathic vestibular syndrome, a condition affecting a dog's balance due to issues in the inner and middle ear. Some dogs make a full recovery, while others may have residual symptoms like a head tilt or abnormal balance. This condition does not usually shorten a dog's life expectancy. Before leaving Cortez Rescue, all dogs will receive a full medical assessment, be up-to-date on vaccinations, and be spayed/neutered. All dogs are micro-chipped before leaving Mexico.

Training & Support

Having another dog to play with helps Fauna manage the side effects of her condition by keeping her busy.
