Max is a big, handsome 4-year-old Golden Retriever, weighing around 82 pounds of beautiful red-orange fluff. He was surrendered by his family due to housing issues after four wonderful years together. Max is a social butterfly who adores people. He walks beautifully on a leash and already knows "sit" and "paw." He's a true family guy and has lived harmoniously with an adult, three children (ages 9, 11, and 18), a cat, and five other medium-sized dogs. He's very comfortable around strangers and gets along well with other pets he knows. Max is working on his nervousness around strange dogs on leash walks, stemming from a past negative experience. However, he's making great progress and recently remained calm when a dog was barking and lunging at him, choosing to focus on sniffing the grass instead! We're so proud of his bravery! He's looking for a loving family to provide him with plenty of playtime, training, and cuddles to help him blossom into the amazing dog he's meant to be. This sweet, loyal boy is heartbroken over losing his lifelong family and home and is eagerly awaiting a second chance at a loving life.
