About Max

Max is a big, handsome 4-year-old Golden Retriever, weighing around 82 pounds of beautiful red-orange fluff. He was surrendered by his family due to housing issues after four wonderful years together. Max is a social butterfly who adores people. He walks beautifully on a leash and already knows "sit" and "paw." He's a true family guy and has lived harmoniously with an adult, three children (ages 9, 11, and 18), a cat, and five other medium-sized dogs. He's very comfortable around strangers and gets along well with other pets he knows. Max is working on his nervousness around strange dogs on leash walks, stemming from a past negative experience. However, he's making great progress and recently remained calm when a dog was barking and lunging at him, choosing to focus on sniffing the grass instead! We're so proud of his bravery! He's looking for a loving family to provide him with plenty of playtime, training, and cuddles to help him blossom into the amazing dog he's meant to be. This sweet, loyal boy is heartbroken over losing his lifelong family and home and is eagerly awaiting a second chance at a loving life.

Ideal Home

Max would thrive in a home that can provide him with ample opportunities for play, training, and affection. He is used to living with children and other animals and gets along well with them.

Ongoing Health

Max is currently in good health. All medical care, including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering, and microchipping, is provided before adoption.

Training & Support

Max knows "sit" and "paw" and walks well on a leash. He is working on his leash reactivity around unfamiliar dogs due to a past incident. He needs continued positive reinforcement and guidance to build his confidence.
