Coco is a 4-year-old, 25 lb. Mini American Shepherd with a big heart and an even bigger personality! She has one brown eye and one blue eye, a full tail, and a beautiful brown coat. Coco found herself in rescue when her previous family experienced significant medical issues that made it difficult to meet her needs.
Coco is a true companion who loves being with her people and forms very strong bonds. Once she picks her favorite person, you'll often find her happily following them from room to room. While she can be a little reserved with new people at first, a little patience and affection go a long way, and she quickly blossoms into an incredibly loving and loyal friend. She greets new people with lots of enthusiasm, which might include some barking, jumping, or wiggling, but she settles down quickly after her initial excitement.
Ideal Home
Coco would thrive with an active family that can provide regular exercise and mental stimulation. She loves several walks a day, playing fetch, and spending as much time as possible with her people. She enjoys affection and will gently nudge your hand if she'd like some pets. She would do especially well with someone who enjoys having a devoted companion by their side. She is good with kids, but would do best with those ages 5 and up due to her tendency to jump up when excited. Coco also seems to be good with cats.
Ongoing Health
Coco is spayed and up to date on her shots.
Training & Support
Coco is an active girl who loves her daily walks and is generally easy to walk, staying close without pulling. She does bark at unfamiliar people and dogs on walks, but she is making progress with consistent training. Fetch is a favorite game of hers! Coco knows "come" and generally responds well, though she can get distracted by people or dogs she'd like to investigate. Like many Aussies, she is smart and eager to learn, and continues to improve with consistent training. She can be reactive toward other dogs, particularly larger ones, and may bark and charge. Because of this, she would do best as the only dog in the home or with an experienced adopter committed to continuing her training. A fence is not required, but her recall will need to be established before she can go off-leash.
