My name is Lucy, and I'm a 2-3 year old Mini Schnauzer mix weighing about 14 pounds. I'm micro-chipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, and heartworm negative. I've also received a ProHeart 12 injection, so I won't need heartworm preventative for a year! I've been spayed and am currently in a foster home in Lenoir, NC, undergoing a two-week evaluation.
I came into rescue on January 14, 2026, after my previous owners didn't have time for me. I was quite matted and had trouble seeing due to the hair over my eyes. Thankfully, I got a much-needed grooming session that took hours, followed by a flea bath and Capstar to get rid of those pesky fleas. I also had some calluses on my bottom from being in a crate for too long. The vet believes I was bred before coming to rescue. While there, I received my ProHeart 12 and Bravecto for flea and tick protection.
I absolutely love everything now that I can move freely and see the world! I walk well on a leash, though I do pull a bit as I explore. I'm learning some manners and no longer "wolf down" my food or try to take from other dogs' bowls. I enjoy playing with other dogs and even our resident cat. I have a puppy's heart and am relishing this new chapter of my life, running like a deer in the yard. I did have a recent spay surgery and a treated ear infection. I'm currently on a high-quality diet and enjoying all the good food!
Ideal Home
I'd love an active family that can provide me with plenty of exercise. No long days spent in a crate for me anymore! A fenced yard would be a wonderful bonus. I also enjoy having other animals around to play with, and I wouldn't mind a human to snuggle with at night. I might be a bit too energetic for older individuals, but I'm gentle, though I do have a playful habit of putting my hands in my mouth that my foster is working on discouraging. I'm not suited for homes with children under ten years of age.
Ongoing Health
I'm heartworm negative and have received a ProHeart 12 injection. I was treated for a flea infestation and a significant ear infection. I'm up-to-date on all vaccinations and have been spayed and micro-chipped.
Training & Support
I'm working on leash manners and learning not to play too roughly with other dogs. I'm also learning to be patient at meal times. My foster is working on discouraging my play biting.
