Morty is a sweet young Beagle mix with a heart of gold and a playful nose for mischief. He is deaf, but that does not slow him down—he enjoys chewing on toys and sticks, chasing a flirt pole, and practicing scent work.

Morty gets along well with other dogs and does a wonderful job checking in with his people. He is crate trained, house trained, understands several signed commands, and happily performs tricks for treats.

Ideal Home

Morty is looking for a loving, permanent home prepared to support a deaf dog and continue positive reinforcement training. Compatibility with cats and children has not been provided.

Ongoing Health

Morty is deaf. His adoption fee includes DAPP, rabies vaccination if age appropriate, heartworm testing and preventative if age appropriate, flea and tick treatment, and spaying or neutering if medically sound. Future annual vaccines, testing, and monthly heartworm prevention are the adopter’s responsibility.

Training & Support

Morty has basic scent-work training, understands several signed commands, and is crate trained and house trained. Positive reinforcement training with Green Dogs Unleashed is required for all adoptions. Preference is given to adopters who complete the six-week Canine 101 class in person in Troy, VA. Limited out-of-area adopters may be considered if they complete one private lesson with GDU and attend a pre-approved positive reinforcement class locally.
