About Taquito
- —OUT OF TOWN PET —* FOSTERED IN SALTILLO MEXICO AND READY TO TRAVEL TO THE EAST COAST ON OUR NEXT ACROSS COUNTRY TRIP ¡IF ADOPTED ! —**
Taquito is an approximately 3-year-old Chihuahua mix weighing 9.9 pounds. He is incredibly social and affectionate, getting along well with cats, dogs, children, men, and women. Slightly cautious at first, he quickly becomes loving, loyal, playful, and deeply attached to his people.
He loves cuddles, kisses, belly rubs, being carried around, and following you everywhere. Taquito is smart, obedient, leash trained, uses the yard for potty breaks, and is doing very well with crate training.
Because of his tiny size, he would do best in a home without territorial male dogs. He does well with female dogs and friendly companions.
Taquito was rescued in January 2026 during one of the coldest days of winter. We found him alone at a gas station, shivering beside the pumps while cars passed by ignoring him. The attendants told us he had been wandering there for days begging for food. The moment we picked him up, he melted into safety. He ate hungrily, curled up warm during the drive home, and slept peacefully for the first time in a long while.
Since that day, Taquito has shown us what a wonderful little dog he truly is — funny, loving, full of personality, and impossible not to adore. He is now ready to find the forever home he deserves.

Important Note:
*Understanding Our Rescued Dogs.
It's essential to recognize that our dogs may have experienced trauma before arriving at ADAC. As a result, they may require an adjustment period in a foster or permanent home. Patience and understanding are absolutely crucial when dealing with rescued dogs.
Why is patience important?
- Rescued dogs may have fears and anxieties due to past experiences
- They need time to adapt to new environments and people
- Patience and understanding can help build trust and strengthen the bond between the dog and their new owner
How can you help?
- Be patient and understanding with the dog during the adjustment period
- Provide a safe and loving environment for the dog to feel comfortable
- Establish a routine and clear boundaries to help the dog feel secure
Together, we can make a difference:
By understanding and supporting our rescued dogs, we can help them overcome their trauma and find a loving home where they can thrive.

+*“ NOT HOUSE TRAINED “**.
Our big job with rescued pets is to rehab their health, taking them to the vet as many times is require for their vaccines, spay/neuter, surgery, diseases, rehab emotions, attend their necessities such as feeding them, cleaning their common areas, keeping them entertained, safe, healthy and protecting them from any dangerous situation. We have so many pets in foster that it is an impossible job to house-train each one !!!
PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT OUR RESCUED PETS ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT TO US. THEY ARE ANIMALS THAT ARE SINTIENT BEINGS WHO HAVE BEEN RESCUED FROM SITUATIONS OF SEVERE ABUSE, AND ABANDONMENT. WE INVEST TIME, MONEY, A LOT OF EFFORT AND EMOTIONAL STRESS FOR THEIR PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL REHABILITATION, WHICH WE DO NOT MAKE ANY MONETARY CHARGE FOR THAT SOCIAL WORK. BECAUSE OF THAT WE TRIED TO DO AN EXHAUSTIVE INVESTIGATION OF THE POSSIBLE NEW FAMILIES OF OUR BELOVED RESCUES.
¡ Doing the Right Things to Find the Right Family !
Every animal we rescue deserves a loving, safe, forever home. It’s a responsibility we take very seriously at ADAC. We are grateful to receive messages from individuals interested in adopting one of our cats or dogs, but we must take certain steps to ensure their safety, as best we can.
Every potential adopter must fill out an application and answer questions that help determine their suitability. Many of our enquiries come from outside of Mexico and we are unable to conduct a home visit. Therefore, we ask for photos of the residence as part of our due diligence. For example, if the dog in question is an escape artist, we would need to know if the yard is fenced, if you have enough space for a pet, if the conditions of the home is suitable for a pet, and a photo/video would assure us of this.
We would like to continue with the adoption protocol, for this we need to receive photos or video of your home to confirm that it is a safe and suitable place for the pet.
This information we obtain from potential adopters is shared only with members of the adoption team involved in the application. Our database is only accessible by select ADAC members, and we never share any personal information with any other organization or business.
If you are not willing to share the information we need to finalize an adoption, we invite you to explore other organizations. These animals are our family and we need to know they will be cared for as such.
We are proud to have connected many beautiful animals into loving homes. You can search in our pages on Facebook, Instagram and our Website for many examples.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Many of our dogs will receive numerous applications, and we ask for your patience during the process of finding the very best match.
Our dogs are fostered in Texas or Saltillo Mexico, but available for adoption in various cities/states.
