Aranza

Aranza is a charming 4-year-old Chihuahua mix, weighing around 14 lbs, who is dreaming of a forever home filled with love and stability. She was rescued in November 2023, found wandering alone in Matamoros, Mexico. Though she was suffering from scabies and underweight, Aranza has made a remarkable recovery thanks to dedicated veterinary care, good nutrition, and the love of her foster family. Today, she's a happy, healthy, and affectionate girl with a gentle and sweet personality. Aranza adores cuddling and snuggling, forming strong bonds with her people. She's also great with children and friendly towards other dogs, making her a versatile companion. Walks and car rides are a joy for her, as she explores the world with curiosity. After her difficult start, Aranza is ready to offer a lifetime of loyalty, affection, and companionship to a family that will cherish her.

Ideal Home

Aranza would thrive in a home with an active family that enjoys outdoor activities and has a securely fenced backyard. She needs a family with a genuine intention to rescue and a deep understanding of the needs of street animals, including their potential need for protection and education. Prior experience with dog behavior and training is highly valued, or a commitment to hiring a trainer to support this intelligent dog's development. A high level of patience and tolerance is essential for her adjustment period.

Ongoing Health

Aranza is up-to-date on her health protocols, which include being spayed/neutered, vaccinated (DHPPI, Rabies, Bordetella), dewormed, and microchipped. She has tested negative for heartworm and 4DX, and is on monthly preventive medication for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. She has a health certificate and vaccination booklet. It's important to note that rescued dogs may require an adjustment period due to past experiences, and patience is crucial.

Training & Support

Aranza is not house-trained. It's understood that rescued animals may not be potty trained, and significant effort is made to rehabilitate their health and emotions. Potential adopters need to be prepared for this aspect of her care and understand that this is a common characteristic of rescue animals.

Transporation

Aranza is currently fostered in Matamoros, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on an upcoming cross-country trip. Transportation is arranged through a contracted company, with scheduled trips 3-4 times per year. Pets are transported across the border into Texas. A one-time transport fee of $400 USD covers door-to-door delivery. Real-time updates will be provided through a private Facebook Messenger group during the journey.
