Bubba Louie

Meet Bubba Louie, a charming 4-year-old hound mix with a heart of gold! Louie came to us from a shelter partner in West Virginia, and he's ready to find his forever retirement home. Despite a past injury to his right front leg, Louie is a lively and happy boy who runs, jumps, and plays just like any other dog. He's a smart, obedient, and tidy companion who loves his human and enjoys lounging on the couch.

Ideal Home

Louie would do best in a quiet home with children 10 years and older. He prefers to be the only dog, but he does well with cats. He enjoys his walks but needs to avoid busy dog parks and crowded areas due to potential reactivity.

Ongoing Health

Louie experienced lameness in his right front leg upon arrival. After evaluation by an orthopedic veterinarian and a neurologist, it was determined that he may have damaged nerves in his caudal brachial plexus. Some nerves may have healed, while others may not have. Importantly, Louie is in no pain or discomfort, and the decision was made to manage this without further intervention.

Training & Support

Louie is a smart boy who is obedient and tidy. He walks well on a leash but can be reactive to other dogs, so he'll need continued guidance in avoiding triggers like busy dog parks.
