Donna

Donna is a super-cute, approximately 65-pound, 3-year-old spayed female German Shepherd mix who is loving, energetic, intelligent, and playful. It's quite possible that Donna's somewhat brindled coat is from Dutch Shepherd DNA. She adores her people, gives gentle kisses, and will happily rest her head in your lap. She is good with strangers coming into the house and has shown a gentle side with children aged 7-12. Donna has not exhibited any resource guarding. Donna loves to go for car rides and is always ready for an adventure away from home. She loves toys and will keep you smiling with her goofy, fun-loving spirit. Donna was rescued from the Contra Costa County animal shelter in Martinez and has been in a foster home recovering from her spay, but her foster is moving and needs to find Donna a new home.

Ideal Home

A calm, supportive environment is best for Donna, as loud noises can make her skittish. While she has shown positive interactions with children, it's likely she would not do well with cats.

Ongoing Health

Donna is healthy, microchipped, and up-to-date on core vaccinations.

Training & Support

Donna has exhibited reactive behavior towards other dogs, people, and bicycles when on leash. She has shown improvement with training and needs someone patient, consistent, and willing to continue her training. While she appears aggressive towards other dogs, with additional exposure and an experienced handler, she could do okay with another dog.
