Meet Tonka, a big, goofy, and incredibly lovable Akita with a personality as grand as his size! Born in February 2026, Tonka is bursting with affection and a silly spirit that's sure to bring smiles to your face. He adores his walks, enjoys the challenge of frozen Kongs and puzzle toys, and his enthusiasm for squeaky toys is unmatched. When Tonka gets excited, get ready for a shower of kisses and boundless energy. He's diligently learning his manners and is eager to please.
Ideal Home
Tonka is seeking an experienced and breed-savvy adopter who truly understands the unique characteristics and requirements of Akitas. A committed individual or family who can provide consistent structure, training, and proper management will be his perfect match. He would thrive in an active household with a securely fenced yard, offering him a safe space to stretch his legs and enjoy supervised outdoor adventures. Due to a strong prey drive, especially towards small animals, Tonka may be happiest as the sole pet in the home. Careful, slow, and thoughtful introductions are essential if considering him with other pets, as his compatibility is still being explored.
Ongoing Health
Tonka is up-to-date on all vaccinations and has been dewormed. He has had a fecal analysis and a heartworm test. He will also be current on flea and heartworm prevention. A health exam will be completed and a certificate issued by a veterinarian within 10 days of adoption.
Training & Support
Tonka is continuing to learn his manners and is eager to please. His ideal family will embrace his goofy spirit, commit to ongoing training, and understand that building trust and maintaining clear boundaries are crucial for his success.
