Steve

Steve was discovered outside the local shelter when the employees arrived for work, abandoned in a laundry basket filled with trash. He was nothing but skin and bones. Security footage showed a pickup truck stopping and three men leaving him there. Initially, humane euthanasia seemed like the kindest option due to his condition. However, when Steve realized people cared about him, he lifted his head as if to say, "I'm still here." He has been seen by a vet and is extremely malnourished and neglected, weighing about 4-6 pounds under. His toenails were so long they had curled under his feet and grown into his pads. Steve has a long road to recovery, but he gets stronger every day. Please check back for updates.
