Kia is a sweet and affectionate tri-color pointer puppy who is playful and loves to snuggle! She's a happy pup with a lot of love to give and is excited to find her happily ever after. Kia is currently at our Rescue Ranch with her three sisters, where she enjoys playing with other dogs and exploring her surroundings. While she can be a little shy when meeting new people, she quickly warms up and will curl up next to you once she gets to know you. She loves to play tug, chew on her toys (especially strong ones like Kongs and bones – she's not a fan of plushies, as she tends to destroy them!), and learning new things during training sessions.
Ideal Home
Kia would do best in a home with adults or older children, as she can be nervous around young children. She would also thrive with another playful dog in the home.
Ongoing Health
Kia is a healthy puppy who is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and on monthly heartworm prevention. It's important to note that Kia originates from Greece, where Leishmaniasis is endemic. She tested negative before coming to the USA, but the parasite can remain dormant. Adopters must be willing to commit to annual Leish testing for the next 7 years. This typically involves a blood draw that can be sent to a specialized lab, with costs varying from approximately $80 to $250.
Training & Support
Kia is a curious and energetic puppy who enjoys exploring. She has learned to sit, lie down, kennel, and recall. Her potty training is progressing well. She is a power chewer, so providing her with durable toys like Kongs and bones is essential. Crating is recommended for her safety while she continues to learn.

Transporation
Kia is located in Kalamazoo, MI. We are able to arrange volunteer transport within the USA for adopters located within a 1,000-mile radius of the foster home. If you are located further than 1,000 miles, you would need to drive the additional distance. Long-distance adoptions may be possible if you are willing to arrange and pay for air transport for Kia. Canadian adopters would need to travel into the USA to pick up their dog.
