If love had huge ears and the cutest little smile you've ever seen, it would look a whole lot like Penelope. Estimated to be around 3 years old, this beautiful German Shepherd mix is the kind of dog who makes every house feel a little softer and every couch a little cozier. She isn't looking for adventure every second of the day—she's looking for you. The person she'll happily lean against, rest her head in your lap, and follow from room to room just because being together is her favorite place to be.

Penelope is an absolute lover girl through and through. She wants to be part of whatever you're doing, whether that's chatting with friends, watching TV, folding laundry, or enjoying a quiet evening at home. She's perfectly content simply soaking up your company, and honestly, she's pretty convinced laps were invented just for dogs. Her foster says one of the funniest things about her is her love for grass. Give this girl a nice patch of green and she'll throw herself onto her back for the happiest little wiggle session you've ever seen. It's impossible not to laugh watching her enjoy life's simple pleasures. Penelope also has the sweetest smile that lights up her whole face, giant radar ears that seem to hear snacks from a mile away, and warm honey-colored eyes that will absolutely melt your heart.

Ideal Home

Penelope enjoys having dog friends, especially those who are polite and happy to let friendships blossom at her pace. She also met a kitty friend and was wonderfully respectful, choosing gentle sniffs before happily giving the cat plenty of personal space. She's showing all the signs of a girl who could do well with calm, dog-savvy cats while continuing introductions in her new home. Penelope currently lives with teenagers and absolutely adores them. Whether you live in a house or an apartment, Penelope isn't asking for much. Just a soft place to nap, a patch of grass to roll in, and a family to love with her whole heart.

Ongoing Health

All vetting is up to date, including DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, and a 12 month heartworm preventative injectable. She has also had a heartworm test and treatment if needed, and a microchip with free lifetime registration.

Training & Support

Penelope is an easygoing, peaceful companion once she settles in. Her trainers on staff have worked with her on behavior modification as needed and created individualized behavior plans to help prepare her for her future family, including crate training, potty training, and leash walking. She has also attended group training and socialization play groups.

Transporation

We facilitate adoptions nationwide using our rescue run USDA certified transport system, ensuring every pet travels safely and comfortably with 24/7 care. Our transport includes drop off locations, in WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, WI and Canada (pick up in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY or Brattleboro, VT for Canadian adopters). You will have the opportunity to track their journey in real time, see photo updates, learn fun facts, connect with fellow adopters and fosters through our private Facebook event page! Texas adopters must pick up from the Houston area.
