Meet Ponderosa, affectionately known as Pondsy! This handsome, nearly 2-year-old Shepherd/Lab mix is about 60 pounds of pure sunshine, a dash of goofiness, and a whole lot of "goodest boy" energy. With his shiny black coat and big, warm brown eyes, Pondsy is guaranteed to melt your heart. When he sees his favorite people, his signature "Pondsy Wiggle" kicks in, his tail wags furiously, and he's ready for belly rubs! He's a curious and playful pup who loves any adventure, from hikes and walks to car rides and cozy naps. Pondsy would make an excellent hiking buddy but is also a champion snuggler for downtime.
Ideal Home
Pondsy would thrive in a home with a friendly, medium-energy female dog who enjoys playtime. He'd also be content as the sole canine companion, soaking up all the attention. He's best suited for a home without cats, as they tend to pique his interest a bit too much. Small children can also be overwhelming for him, so a home with teenagers (13+) and adults would be ideal. While he can adapt to apartment living (first floor preferred) with sufficient exercise and mental stimulation, a yard would be a wonderful bonus.
Ongoing Health
Pondsy is a resilient boy who has undergone leg surgery and completed physical therapy. While his back leg has a unique character now, it doesn't hinder his zest for running, playing, and zooming!
Training & Support
Pondsy is a social butterfly with other dogs and would benefit from continued positive reinforcement and socialization. His love for his people means he'll bond deeply and be a loyal shadow.

- The adoption fee is $900 and covers all vetting, including vaccinations, deworming, spay/neuter, heartworm preventative, microchipping, a Martingale collar, a health certificate for travel, and transport costs (with an $87 surcharge).
- Discounts are available on Embark DNA tests, pet insurance with Trupanion, dog training sessions with GoodPup and Rover Training, and a fresh dog food subscription with Fetch.

Transportation
Pondsy is currently located at our Texas facility. We provide nationwide transport with USDA-certified rescue transport systems, ensuring safe and comfortable travel for all pets. Drop-off locations are available in WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, and Canada. Canadian adopters can pick up in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY, or Brattleboro, VT. You can track your pet's journey in real-time and receive photo updates. Texas adopters must pick up from the Houston area.
