Meet Gretta! This happy, playful six-year-old girl joined us after her loving human mama passed away. Gretta and her sister, Agatha, were a little nervous at first, but after a couple of months, their true, joyful personalities have emerged. Gretta is the more athletic of the two and absolutely adores playtime! She's a champion toy collector and will happily carry around her favorites (or socks, if that's what's available!). She'd love a human playmate to help her master the art of "play language." Initially wary of the resident chill cat, Gretta has now embraced feline friendship, seeing the cat as part of her pack. We're unsure how she'd fare with other cats, but this particular arrangement has been a success! Gretta enjoys leash walks and sniffing around the yard. She's making good progress with house training, with the typical caveats for an Italian Greyhound. She thrives with frequent potty breaks and will use a pad at night if given access, or she's happy to sleep in her crate with Agatha. Gretta and Agatha can be adopted together or separately. They are sweet, playful, and happy to snuggle or play together.
Ideal Home
An experienced Italian Greyhound owner who can provide patience as Gretta settles into her new home and learns the rules. Someone who can come home at lunch for potty breaks and has an area set up with potty pads for when she's home alone during the workday. She enjoys moderate activity and playtime.
Ongoing Health
Italian Greyhounds are known for housebreaking challenges, and Gretta is no exception. She has occasional accidents and is actively working on her house training. A structured and consistent potty routine is essential for success.
Training & Support
Gretta is good with crate training, and her crate should be used as a safe, happy space. She can be vocal, especially when barking at squirrels or neighborhood dogs, so her suitability for apartment living is still being assessed.
