Rufus has the kindest eyes you'll ever see, making you want to scoop him up and shower him with love. This 2-year-old, neutered Yorkie/Lhasa Apso mix is about 15 lbs and is currently a little underweight, but we expect him to reach a healthy 18-20 lbs. He's a sweet, trusting boy with a bright future ahead, ready to leave his past behind for a forever family. Rufus was found abandoned and left to fend for himself for several days, but thankfully, a kind person intervened and networked to get him into rescue. Despite his rough start, Rufus remains incredibly sweet and eager to love, showing his deep gratitude. He's a true "Velcro dog" who loves being by his people's side, whether it's cuddling on the couch, following you around the house, or napping in your lap. His affectionate, gentle, and easygoing nature makes him an absolute joy to have around. Rufus is wonderful with other dogs of all sizes, respecting their space and social cues, but he's also happy to be an only dog if he's getting plenty of human attention. He's a dream on walks, walking nicely on leash without pulling and showing no reactivity. Rufus also loves car rides and enjoys watching the world go by from the window. He's crate-trained and settles well, though he's still a young dog with a playful side, occasionally offering gentle play nibbles. He's also working on his house-training, and we believe with a consistent routine and his recent neuter, he'll make great progress. Rufus has a moderate energy level, enjoying both adventures and cuddle sessions. He forms deep bonds and truly wants to be a part of the family. As a Yorkie/Lhasa Apso mix, Rufus will need regular grooming to keep his coat healthy and tangle-free.
