About Annie
Annie is a sweet, spunky 3-4 month old Shih Tzu and poodle mix pup weighing 7 lbs. She's estimated to be around 20 lbs when fully grown. Annie is affectionate, loving, and adores being doted on. She's curious by nature and always the first to investigate new things. Annie is a social butterfly who loves meeting new people and dog friends, making her a perfect pup for an active family who enjoys including their furry friend in everyday life. Her laid-back demeanor is great for a family that wants a pup that can adapt easily to different environments and enjoys fun adventures. She's happy as long as she's with her humans, whether playing with other dogs, cuddling, or chasing toys in the yard. Annie has the perfect balance of playful puppy energy and laid-back cuddle bug vibes. She enjoys running, playing, and exploring, but also loves spending time with her people and soaking up cuddles.
Ideal Home
Annie would love an active family that enjoys taking walks, exploring new places, spending time outdoors, and including their dog in everyday activities. She would also be equally happy with a family that enjoys cozy evenings at home filled with snuggles. She would love a home with a fenced yard to run and play in. Annie would thrive in a home with another playful, friendly dog and some kids to cuddle and play with. She's also happy being the "only child" and getting all her humans' love and attention. No public dog parks for Annie. She would love to have fun adventures going on outings around town or going to Sniff Spots for enrichment, playtime, and exercise. She would love if her human works from home or works a hybrid schedule, but cannot go 8+ hours without playtime and potty breaks, so a dog sitter or day care is recommended if her humans have longer days at work occasionally. Annie would do best with older children who are experienced with smaller breeds and know how to be careful when handling her, as she can be wiggly when excited and picked up. She has been around kitties before and is friendly towards them and would do best with dog-friendly cats that have lived with dogs before.
Ongoing Health
Annie is starting to teeth, so her humans will need to keep a watchful eye on her to make sure she doesn't chew on human kid toys laying around.
Training & Support
Annie is kennel trained and potty trained, and has started on leash training. She sleeps in a kennel at night with no fuss and even hangs out in her kennel with the door open to nap throughout the day. She loves to go on outings in her neighborhood as she is carried in her doggy pouch. She will need additional practice to perfect her leash walking skills in her forever home. She is doing well with potty training and will alert her foster family she needs to go outside by circling at the back door. It is recommended to use a doggy door bell by the back door to help her learn how to notify you when she needs to go outside. She does need a consistent schedule and be taken out every few hours initially until she gets on a good routine in a new environment. If she is the only dog in the home, she would benefit from having frequent play dates with doggy friends or go to doggy day care a couple times a week so she continues having positive interactions with other dogs as she grows up.
