Phantom

Phantom is a 1.5-year-old, 55lb male Chow Chow who is the world's friendliest ghost. Don't let his name fool you; Phantom isn't here to haunt your house, but rather to claim your personal space with relentless requests for pets, cuddles, and quality time. He is convinced that humans exist solely to adore him, and he's not wrong – he's a handsome boy who is exceptionally sweet, affectionate, and happiest when soaking up attention. Phantom greets each day with a positive attitude and the belief that any lap is a dog lap if you try hard enough. He's like a compact edition of a bear, offering maximum fluff, teddy bear energy, and cuddle potential without the heft. He’s a living stuffed animal with legs! Phantom found himself needing rescue after landing in a shelter, but now he’s ready to find his forever home.

Ideal Home

Phantom is "selectively social" and generally ignores other dogs, preferring to keep his personal bubble respected. He has absolutely no interest in other dogs' feelings or group activities. We would prefer Phantom not live in a home with cats, as he would likely be happiest in a cat-free kingdom where he can focus on being admired and collecting stuffed animals. We are unsure how he would do with children as he hasn't spent time with them in foster care, but we think he would do best with older, dog-savvy kids who understand he is not a living stuffed animal available for unlimited handling. Phantom would do best with a securely fenced yard.

Training & Support

Phantom is a gentleman who is fully potty trained and has maintained an excellent record in his foster home. He knows "Sit," "Shake," "Lay Down," "No," "Off," "Walk," and "Car Ride." Phantom views crates as a last resort, preferring free-roam privileges where he can monitor activities from a window or relax near an air conditioning vent. He may start out in your bedroom at night but will likely find his way to cooler spots in the house. He is fairly quiet and reserves his voice for situations he finds suspicious. Phantom loves water and is happy to splash in kiddie pools, get groomed, or treat his water bowl like a miniature water park. He is a toy enthusiast and loves to carry, show off, and play with his toys, though he has his own unique way of playing fetch – he'll chase the ball but won't bring it back.
