Beau is a 7-year-old, 65lb mix who is as smart as he is affectionate. He's a happy-go-lucky guy who enjoys being involved in whatever his humans are doing, whether it's splashing in a kiddie pool, embarking on long sniffing adventures, playing fetch, or tackling puzzle toys. Beau is also happy to relax and keep you company. He's sensitive to the energy around him and does best in a calm, predictable environment where he feels secure.
Beau can be a bit "alert" around other dogs, especially if they greet him rudely on leash when he's not expecting it. He can tolerate and sometimes enjoy the company of mellow dogs, but he is particular about their energy levels. He has a history of resource guarding his food bowls, though this was not consistent with all dogs or people. Ideally, Beau would be the only dog in the home, receiving all the love and attention he deserves. Older children or teenagers with established routines should be fine with him. While a fenced yard would be wonderful, it's not a strict requirement as long as he gets his daily walks for ample sniffing and exploration.
Beau was rescued from Mississippi in 2021 and adopted, but as his family grew with toddlers and another dog, the busy household became stressful for him, leading to his return in June 2025. He's now seeking a forever family who understands his needs and can provide the perfect balance of activity, companionship, and calm. Beau is loyal, loving, goofy, and incredibly eager to form a strong bond with his people. If you're dreaming of a devoted best friend who's always ready for an adventure, a cozy movie night, or a peaceful nap, Beau is your guy!
