Meet Rex! This handsome Shepherd/Lab mix is about 3.5 years young and weighs around 95 lbs. Rex is a resilient sweetheart with a story that truly has a happy ending! Like many dogs abandoned on the back roads of rural Texas, Rex had to learn to survive on his own. At first, he was too scared to trust people, only sneaking out at night to eat the food kind neighbors left for him. But everything changed one morning when Rex showed up exhausted, and barely able to stand. His back paw was severely injured, and somehow, he knew it was time to trust people. That brave decision saved his life! Rex allowed his rescuers to take him to the vet, where he underwent two orthopedic surgeries to repair his leg. Thanks to excellent care and his incredible spirit, Rex pulled through like a champ! He may always have a slight limp, but don’t tell him that—it doesn’t slow him down one bit. He loves to run, play with his doggie siblings, and show off his silly, happy personality! Today, Rex is a loving, friendly boy! He rarely barks, is both house-trained and crate-trained, and has wonderful manners. While he does great in a crate, he’d much rather be close to his people—quietly sitting by your feet, just happy to be near you! He’s smart, eager to learn, and truly aims to please. Rex is fantastic with people and gets along great with other dogs. He quickly became a favorite at the vet’s office thanks to his sweet and friendly nature! He’s the kind of dog who will form a deep bond and be a loyal, devoted companion for life. Rex is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines—completely ready to start his next chapter. All Rex needs now is a loving home to call his own. If you’re looking for a big-hearted best friend who’s already proven how strong and loving he can be, Rex is your guy ❤️
