Meet Wyatt Earp! He's a handsome German Shepherd/Husky/Lab mix, weighing in at about 56 pounds, and born on December 4, 2022. Wyatt and his bonded best friend, Doc Holiday, came to us when their family needed to find them loving forever homes. They've been inseparable ever since and are now ready to find a family to call their own.
Wyatt looks to Doc for confidence, especially when meeting new people. Because of this, they may need a few introductions before they feel completely comfortable. Once they've bonded with you, they'll be your most devoted companions! They haven't had much exposure to children or dogs outside their own pack, so we recommend slow, proper introductions with any resident family members. While another dog in the home could help them build confidence, it's not a requirement. Older children might be a better fit, as younger ones can sometimes be startling with loud noises or sudden movements. When they get excited, they might jump to greet you, and could potentially knock someone over. We can test them with cats to see how they react!
Ideal Home
Wyatt and Doc would thrive in a patient home that can help them build confidence and offer plenty of opportunities to exercise. They'd love a home that understands their need for gentle introductions and allows them to explore new things at their own pace. While they've learned to love being inside, they would do well in an inside/outside home, provided they have access to a climate-controlled shelter, fresh food and water daily, and ample space for safe exercise in a fenced area.
Ongoing Health
Wyatt and Doc are generally healthy, but as they are still adjusting to indoor living, they may need some guidance with house manners.
Training & Support
Wyatt and Doc have learned many useful things! They know basic commands like "sit," "down," and "off," and understand when it's time for potty breaks or play. They're also learning to walk nicely on leash, though they might still pull a bit when excited. They're well on their way to becoming perfect companions!
