About Spike

Meet Spike!

This handsome two-year-old German Shepherd mix is a true gem, weighing around 50 pounds. With his sleek black coat and a distinctive white chest patch, Spike is an intelligent and affectionate boy who truly believes he's a lap dog. He loves to snuggle up, lean in for belly rubs, and soak up all the attention you can give. His favorite toys are squeaky ones, and he's always up for a game of fetch or a proud parade with his treasures. Spike is also an enthusiastic swimmer and would be a fantastic companion for an active person who enjoys running, hiking, or spending time outdoors.

When Spike first arrived, he was quite fearful and easily startled. However, over the past year and a half, he's made incredible progress and blossomed into a confident, playful dog. While he might still bark at strangers out of uncertainty, he quickly looks to his people for reassurance.

Ideal Home

Spike would thrive in a home with a patient, experienced pet parent who can provide a secure fenced yard and loving guidance. He needs steady leadership in a caring environment to continue building his confidence.

Ongoing Health

Spike is neutered and microchipped.

Training & Support

Spike is crate-trained and house-trained. He knows commands like "sit," "wait," "crate," "out," and "no," and comes when called. He is patient when waiting for treats and responds well to positive reinforcement. He is comfortable being left alone for short periods in his crate. He can be uneasy with loud sirens and may whimper if he sees his people cuddling another dog. He has lived peacefully with female dogs, but introductions should be thoughtful as he can be selective.
