Meet Derek!

Derek is a super sweet pup who would never hurt a fly, but he's still learning how to "dog" and can be a little shy around new experiences and people. He's the kind of dog who will blossom with patience and love, and the reward of seeing him gain confidence and trust is immense. With time, he'll likely become your devoted shadow, sticking close and following you everywhere as he learns to embrace his new life.

Ideal Home

Derek would thrive in a home with other confident dogs who can show him the ropes. A securely fenced yard is essential, providing a safe space for him to explore without the risk of escape if he experiences a moment of fear during his adjustment period. He needs a patient home that understands he'll eventually be your best friend, but it might take a few weeks for him to feel truly comfortable. Due to his shyness, an adult-only home is recommended for now, as children might add to his initial fear. Homes with cats are not recommended as his reaction is unknown.

Ongoing Health

Derek is scheduled to be neutered and is up-to-date on all vaccinations, dewormed, and microchipped.

Training & Support

Derek is crate trained and appears to be potty trained. He needs a patient adopter who can help him build confidence and learn to trust.
