Dex is a smart, loyal, and affectionate 1.5-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix who bonds deeply with his people. He is playful, intuitive, and happiest when he feels included and secure in his home. Dex loves to play, especially tug of war and games of catch, and he plays well with dogs of all sizes. What makes him special is how well he reads social cues. If another dog is not interested in playing, Dex immediately backs off. He is patient, respectful, and thoughtful in his interactions. On leash, Dex is excellent; he walks calmly without pulling and shows no reactivity when passing other dogs. He is very intelligent, eager to learn, and responds well to training. He enjoys having structure and clearly likes to have a job to do. With his people, Dex is incredibly loving and affectionate. Once bonded, he enjoys cuddling, being close, and showing his loyalty.
Ideal Home
Dex has a strong prey drive and is not suitable for a home with cats or small animals. He would do best in an adult-only home or with dog-savvy teens who understand boundaries, as he can sometimes growl when unsure around people. He would thrive in a home with adult adopters who enjoy walks, outdoor time, and continuing his training.
Ongoing Health
Dex is a healthy young dog with no known health conditions.
Training & Support
Dex is fully house-trained and crate-trained. He goes right into his crate when asked and sleeps quietly through the night. He can also be left out in the house when his energy needs are met and does well without destructive behaviors. He is eager to learn and responds well to training.
