This dog is with Corridor Rescue in Houston, Texas
Ever seen a dog with such a silly name as Toaster? We couldn't possibly give this wobbly fella a serious name, and he's so bouncy with joy it just seemed to ...pop into our heads! Toaster may not move quite like a regular dog because of a street-healed spinal break, but his zest for life and weeble-wobbly ways absolutely stole the hearts of each member of our staff the moment he came in! Over the time in our care, his balance and coordination have gained strength, and he's even pretty dern good at bringing himself up and down short stair-flights(willfully!)
Just now coming into being a true adult age at an estimated 2.5yrs of age, effervescent Toaster may play a tiny bit rough for some folks, but he is learning that while other dogs might enjoy him placing his mouth on them, most humans do not; he's never rough or aggressive with it, but he IS an enthusiastic fella, and sometimes his favorite thing in the world is holding your forearm in his mouth(we don't get it either!)Through sheer serendipity, this tenacious young pup came into our program heartworm negative and without any additional medical concerns - he's just kinda wonky-moving, and it's quite alright with him! His movements have seemed to be startling to the other dogs in our program, but he does seem to want to spend time with his own kind. He's not yet met our resident cats, and given his herky-jerky movements we feel he'd be safest in the company of older children lest he topple and land on a toddler or the like!
He does remarkably well at keeping his kennel tidy, so we've high hopes he'll pick up housetraining with ease! Despite his wobbles, he's also surprisingly mellow on a leash overall, and we couldn't be happier for that! His markings are absolutely stunning, and his zeal for life is quite contagious; for the person willing to overlook (or better yet, embrace!) his unusual gait, he'll make a once-in-a-lifetime companion indeed!
