Ted is a charming Pug/Chi Mix, estimated to be between 10 to 12 years old and weighing 18lbs. He's a very special boy with Pulmonary Hypertension, and he's neutered and up-to-date on vaccines. Ted is a sweet and initially shy dog who is blossoming with confidence every day. He enjoys accompanying his human on errands and outings, where he's known to politely expect a few french fries. Ted is highly treat-motivated and enjoys grazing throughout the day. His favorite pastimes include napping on the sofa or at your feet, chewing on his stick, and gazing out the window with curiosity. He's happy to explore a backyard if available but also enjoys city strolls. Ted is understanding when you need to leave and will happily nap or people-watch until your return.
Ideal Home
Ted would thrive in a home that embraces a slower pace of life. A backyard for him to explore would be a bonus, though not a strict requirement. While he can be shy with other dogs in public, he seems to warm up to them in a home environment, so a calm canine companion could be a nice addition. Due to his shyness when being picked up in public, travel via carrier, especially on public transport, is recommended.
Ongoing Health
Ted has Pulmonary Hypertension, a condition that requires daily medication administered three times a day. He typically takes his medication without issue, especially with a pill pocket or a bit of Parmesan cheese. Recent ultrasounds show his heart condition has remained stable, which is positive news. He is to continue his current medication regimen.
Training & Support
Ted is likely house-trained, as most adult dogs are, but may have a few transitional accidents as he adjusts to a new home. Consistency with potty breaks and designated spots will help. He is still a bit shy with other dogs in public but shows interest in them when they are in the apartment. While generally considered a beginner-level dog due to his age and predicted temperament, he does require daily exercise and mental stimulation, including a minimum 60-minute walk or quick-paced activity, plus shorter potty breaks, and engaging activities at home.
